As the newly appointed President of the Nova Scotia Association of Police Boards, I want to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to Diane Bennett Cook (Truro) for her four years as President. Diane did an excellent job as President and has accomplished a lot during her tenure. I am looking forward to working with Diane in her present position as Past President and I will certainly be drawing on her experience.

HISTORY OF THE FOUNDING OF NSAPB
The concept of a Nova Scotia Association of Police Boards was born.... not in Nova Scotia... but in Edmonton Alberta, when Councillor Robert Wilson of Kentville, then President of the Canadian Association of Police Boards, Councillor Cyril Reid, Police Commissioner for the Town of Amherst Nova Scotia and Mayor Sylvester Atkinson, Chairman of the Middleton Police Commission met in that city during the Spring meeting of the CAPB in March,1990.

NSAPB Goals and Objectives
To establish a provincial body to express the views and positions of Municipal Police Governing Authorities.
To provide a means for the collecting and sharing of information and discussion of matters relating to policing.
To create a formal network for the dissemination of information relating to the governance of policing.
To consider matters of provincial interest which affected policing and to formulate policy positions and appropriate responses at the policy making level for dissemination to government on such matters as:
